The best roadside assistance membership depends on where you drive, the vehicle you use and the coverage you already have. Compare the actual service limits before comparing the annual price. A plan suited to short city trips may be less useful if your regular journeys take you far from a repair shop.

Start with coverage you already have

Check your vehicle warranty, insurer, auto club membership and credit card benefits. Ask whether the benefit follows the member or a specific vehicle. Confirm who must arrange assistance and whether independently arranged service is eligible for reimbursement.

Compare towing distance and service calls
