Ontario Tow Zones: Check the Current Pickup Instructions

If your vehicle needs towing on an Ontario highway, confirm the instructions for that location before arranging a truck. A general service area listing does not confirm that a company is authorized for every highway pickup.

Check current program information

Use Ontario's official tow zone program page for the current coverage and dispatch instructions. Older announcements about the original pilot should not be used as a current map of the program.

Explain your location clearly

• Give the highway number and direction of travel.
• Identify the nearest exit, interchange or visible landmark.
• Explain whether the vehicle is in a traffic lane or another location.
• Describe any injuries, smoke, damage or immediate hazard.

If there is an emergency or immediate danger, call 911. Follow the directions of attending officers and emergency responders.

Before the vehicle is moved

Ask who is providing the tow, where the vehicle will be taken and how to obtain the service record and invoice. Contact your insurer or assistance provider about its process when it is safe to do so. Do not assume a separately booked truck can collect the vehicle from a controlled highway location.
